November 2024

Studio rehearsal

August 2024

Beautiful sunny day for filming at Lily’s House for the projection for ‘Every Three Days.’ Lily’s story is told simultaneously with Katy, Silvana and Linda’s story, which is danced live in front of the projection.

July 2024

Here we are working on a trio to a track by Novixe called ‘Stranded’ and exploring the idea of being trapped in a situation – unable to find a way out and unable to offer help.

March 2024

Here we are playing with mayhem for the opening section of ‘Every Three Days’

February 2024

Exploring the theme of being metaphorically tied to a situation

I like the contrast in flow and speed between these 2 duets. I can see these ideas making the final edit.

January 2024

Silvana and I have been working on a duet. Here is a fragment which appears towards the end, in which we are endeavouring to convey our mutually supportive relationship. In the narrative we are sisters. Other parts of our duet show how we tease each other and are competitive.

December 2023

We have been having some fun with a quickstep tune. Here’s a short clip.

November 2023

Here are Katy and Silvana – it’s all about the relationship!

October 2023

Starting R&D for my new work – no title yet – exploring a few themes at the moment – female family relationships, the power or destructive nature of silence

5th & 12th June 2023

Final two rehearsals before our performance at the RAD Theare. We are ready!

31st May 2023

Evaluation day! Shared and received feedback. The big question is whether to change the order of the sections. If yes will have to change the soundtrack too.

11th April 2023

Full day of rehearsal. All sections are finished, finally. Rehearsed with soundtrack for the first time. Now we just have to run it and run it as often as we can when we can get together.

2nd March 2023

The waltz needs lots of work. There’s more unison in this section. Changed the track to a shorter one, as this section eats a lot of rehearsal time.

28th February 2023

Started on the finale music hall sections. I’ve been working on lyrics for a couple of weeks now and two good friends have been writing/recording the music and singing. Such a laugh dancing to these old time music hall melodies

GENERATION Z

15th February 2023

Start of 3 days of intensive rehearsal and a photo shoot for publicity for our work. 4 sections of 6 completed.

14th January 2023

Combined some of the solo work to make duets. Our cha cha trio is also finished. Started work on another trio to some ballroom.waltz music. Spent some time on ballroom technique – rise and fall,  footwork. It’s tricky if you haven’t done ballroom before. The basic waltz is very different to the contemporary triplet and the ballet waltz.

7th December 2022

Last time we can all meet before Christmas. We look at each other’s solos, and work on getting the characterisation right. I like to work with music that portrays the personality or circumstances or the thoughts and feelings of a character. I will often choose songs with lyrics during this part of the process. I find that this really helps to define the meaning behind the movement. Then I abandon the music and find something less literal and hopefully royalty free.

21st November 2022

We make a good start on what I’m calling the cha cha section. It’s a sort of competition between the three generations danced to a cha cha cha.

2nd November 2022

Lily auditions us and we audition Lily and we find we are a good fit. It’s clear she’ll need new choreography. Can’t wait to get started again. Here’s a little glimpse of something we’ll be developing.

21st October 2022

Our young dancers has left the company due to coursework and her graduation show commitments. I loved her movement style. Will need to replace her, of course, and re- choreograph to suit the body and style of whoever replaces her. Katy is scouting.

12th October 2022

Started the devising process for ‘ In Search Of….’ Here’s Katy and me the first time we danced together experimenting with body actions and body parts. Well, you’ve got to start somewhere and at this stage we’re not exactly sure what we’re searching for!
